New from Alanya - hook bridge one converts
The deputy mayor for Alanya, Kemal Babaoglu, gave to the press the latest information about the condition of the still persisting construction work to Hooks - Bridge which are well-known. Up to the conclusion of the project, a roundabout on hook - bridge is planned, it has become clear that their is still approx. 2 to 3 months of completion work to be done. On the Sevket Tokus Bulvari, he also stated that on the `25-Meter-Street `at present the underground power-cables are to be shifted. As soon as this work is completed the Sevket Tokus Bulvari will get a new road surface and new sidewalks. They are to resemble those in the city centre. It will become far more beautiful and more useful.

Turkish banks expand abroad
Prominent Turkish banks plan to strengthen their foreign activities. Here is a short overview: The Oyak bank has been active since 1994 in Ireland and after the purchase of the Anchors Bank in 1996 in Germany; the Yapi Kredi bank with its Italian partner University of Credito plans to grow in the coming year particularly in Russia and Azerbaijan; the Warranty Bank applied in Holland and Russia for a bank license and will develop their commitment in Germany and Russia from its Dutch partner in the coming year. In Romania the number of the branches is to rise to 80.

Annual rental property taxes
As we reported before, you have to pay here also in Turkey your annual property taxes. In addition you should not forget, each year in February or at the latest March, to deliver a report of your income from renting your property this should also be with the tax office. You must prepare a report of the income you have received from renting your property so that they can calculate the amount of tax you have to pay. below you can see how this calculation is done:

With an income up to 2200 YTL annually, you are not required to pay any taxes but you must still submit a report of the income. With a profit starting from 2200 YTL you then have to start paying taxes, the procedure is that for instance you have an income of 5,000 YTL per annum you subtract the 2,200YTL from this figure. The balance is then taxable at 15%.

Springer and Dogan TV co-operate
Springer can take over 25 per cent at the Turkish transmitter Dogan TV. The competition authority in Germany and Turkey agreed. The partners have agreed upon a purchase price of 375 million euro with the signing of the contract in November. With the entrance with Dogan TV and at the beginning of Decembers an announced minority participation at the Polish transmitter pole-sown expands Springer for the first time in the foreign television business.

Old traffic rules and new punishments.
Infringements within the traffic laws are to become more expensive. Similar to other European countries, one can expect to be punished for violating the traffic regulations in Turkey, if you do not adhere to them. These penalties are divided as follows:

Driving without your lights on at night: 108 YTL
Driving with out a valid driving licence: 222 YTL
Driving and not having your licence with you
or failure to hand over: 108 YTL
Exceeding the speed limit 10-30% 108 YTL
over 30% 222 YTL
Driving on the wrong side of the road: 108 YTL
Using a Radar warning device: 352 YTL
Traffic offence on a pedestrian crossing 108 YTL
During cash payment a discount is granted of 25%, but one should adhere to the traffic rules at all times.

The year 2007 becomes real estates of the year
The property market was still strong in the later part of last year, it came in a report of the past yearly break-down in the real estate business in the region of Antalya. For the year 2007 however the brokers expect a boom in real estate sales. The expected Mortgage law (long-term credits with very low interest rate), in the year 2007 also for Europeans comes into force, the property market will again begin to move.
