An honororay consulate of Sweden has
been opened in Alanya.
Hilmi Tokus has been named honorary
consul of Sweden.
Hilmi Tokus,member of the senate and financial director of the
municipality of Alanya has been named the honorary consul of
Sweden. Christer Asp, the ambassador of the Swedish ambassede in
Ankara and Torkel Stiernlöf, the consul-general in Ýstanbul have
together opened the honorary consulate in Alanya.
The ambassador Christer Alp said in
“Mr. Hilmi Tokus is a well known and succesful man. We are very
happy to have him as our honorary consul. Together we will try
to bring the two countries closer together. I wish him all the
best with his new job”.
8% more German tourists in 2009
It is expected that German tourists visiting Alanya will be 8% more this year.
Faik Kaptanoglu ,the leader of the Tourism Assocation in Alanya recently
declared that the world crisis did not effect the Turkish economy and tourism as
much as it did other countries. It is even expected that more tourists will
visit Alanya this year.
Kaptanoglu, who took part of the ITB Berlin Fair, said that: “ The Alanya and
Side stands at the fair were well visited during the fair and the advertsing
material was soon finished. It was a great success. Research has shown that the
tourist count will increase 8 % this year. We are very pleased with this. The
same research has also shown that 25 % of the German tourists will not be going
to Spain this year and 40% will not be visiting Greece,Egypt and Tunesia because
the prices are more expensive than in Turkey.”
The Turkish- Norwegian
culture-bridge concert has
fascinated the audience
The Turkish- Norwegian
culture-bridge concert which was made possible by the municipality of Alanya and
the Norwegian honorary consulate and which was held in the culture center of
Alanya, fascinated the Turkish and European audience.
The Norwegian artist Christopher Pedersen and the concert, which represented the
Turkish-Norwegian culture bond, was applauded for many minutes by Cecile
Landsverk,the Norwegian consul-general of Turkey, Hulusi Dogan, Hasan
Sipahioglu,the mayor of Alanya,the Norwegian honorary consul Nüvit Ozkan, the
senate members of Alanya and many Turkish and European citizens.
The international mounatin-bike
competition has finished
The Austrian Hannes Metzler
has won the men`s international mountain-bike competition and with the women,
Dutchwoman Laura Turpijn has won.
competition which was held in the Kizilalan region made the participants compete
with eachother in nature. The elite men`s category had to cycle 40 km and the
elite women`s category had to cycle 26 km. There were in total 126 participants
from 13 countries.
In the elite men`s category the Austrian Hannes
Metzler came in first with a score of 02.03.47. With the women`s elite category
the Dutchwoman Laura Turpijn won with a score of 01.41.44.
Alanya is this year`s most favourite
Sweden`s most popular paper
DAGENS NYHETER: “Alanya is this year`s most favourite holiday resort”
The DAGENS NYHETER, the paper with the most run, reports that Alanya is Sweden`s
most loved holiday location of this year.
Using statistics of a travel organisation the paper concluded that Alanya-Turkey
is the number 1 holiday location, Mallorca-Spain is 2nd and Girit- Greece and
other locations are good for a third place. The Swedes have chosen Alanya as
their most favourite holiday place. This article was published on the frontpage
and the financial page.

Garaba Media house, keep reporting about Alanya.
